I get to go to sleep now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Sleep Deprivation Update

I'm soooo sleepy and achy and my delirious head is swimming...we stayed here until close to 4 a.m. and we were all up at 7:30 to be back here before 9 a.m. to finish off our conversion validation by the this afternoon...then back to the hotel to nap ( I hope, please please God, let them give me naptime) and then back here at 6 or 7 to begin all over again...

signing off...onward and upward (hee hee, that's for you Joyce!)

Hell Week Has Begun!!

This is just a short note to let you all know:

1. It is officially 1 a.m.
2. I am still at work.

3. I am still doing work.

The idea was to stay until 3 a.m. and then go back to our hotel rooms down the block (very classy rooms by the way, complete with kitchen and as I'm on the 24th floor, a full view of the East River), sleep for a couple of hours and then be back here at 6:30 a.m. On top of this superb idea, I was sick all weekend with the flu, am still sniffly/sneezy and not feeling up to snuff at all and I am so weary, I'm getting incredibly giggly about everything....a bit punch drunk or something is how I feel...and tomorrow is actually supposed to be even worse...that's it for now, we just a had a little lapse in our data checking and I thought I'd keep myself awake by posting this...tune in later this week to see if I have anything remotely interesting to report...it's a longshot, but you never know... :-)

A Retraction, Sort Of

My mother would like me to state that the red and white kitchen story is not entirely true and she feels it portrays her as a terrible gift-giver. Not so! She is one of the best gift-givers ever and every year, she surprises me with some wonderful present...she would also like you to know that I tended to circle almost every toy in the Sears Wish Book, which made it very difficult for Santa to decide what to get...and I did get a play kitchen one year, it was made of aluminum and had fairy tale characters on it...

Now in order for me to retract the story completely, she will have to come up with the 40$ antique travelling vanity set I saw in Minneapolis when I was 12 that she wouldn't let me buy because she said it was "junk" ... and she must order me a large pepperoni pizza from Pizza Hut that I get to eat by myself... wink wink, Mommy?

Crumbly buildings and spooky undergrounds

If you like pictures of old deserted insane asylums, old underground tunnels, crumbly buildings, check out these supercool links, courtesy of VoxInfo...everything looks haunted right? Mom, you'd like these - I was just talking to Vox about your love of prisons...

The Red and White Gingham Curtains: A Christmas Story

Once upon a time, there was a little girl and every year, after Thanksgiving was over, her mother used to pull out the Sears Wish Book and ask her daughter, "Here, little one. Pick out what you would like Santa to bring you this year." And every year, the little girl would pick out her favorite item: a red and white play kitchen set complete with a window over the play sink with red and white checked curtains. She wanted this play kitchen with her whole heart; she'd put it on the top of the list where Santa wouldn't miss it. But years passed, and while she received many wonderful presents over the years and had amazing parents and knew Santa Claus cared about her, the red and white play kitchen was never there on Christmas Day. But this little girl is here to tell you, that Santa does exist! Christmas dreams do come true! Because that play kitchen has turned into my actual, real kitchen! Thank you Santa -I knew you would come through...you always do. Let this be a lesson to all you naysayers out there, all you Ebeneezer Scrooge's!! Believe in the magic of Christmas!

Desert Places

Desert Places by Robert Frost

Snow falling and night falling fast, oh, fast
In a field I looked into going past,
And the ground almost covered smooth in snow,
But a few weeds and stubble showing last.
The woods around it have it--it is theirs.
All animals are smothered in their lairs.
I am too absent-spirited to count;
The loneliness includes me unawares.

And lonely as it is that loneliness
Will be more lonely ere it will be less--
A blanker whiteness of benighted snow
With no expression, nothing to express.
They cannot scare me with their empty spaces
Between stars--on stars where no human race is.
I have it in me so much nearer home
To scare myself with my own desert places.

Someone is a little too short to reach...hee hee...

Where were they going without ever knowing the way?

Mom and Dad in Arizona...took 3 hours to find this old mining town, and it turned out to be a little ... spooky? Needless to say, we did not stay long....
