Help! I'm being attacked by cutie pies! And nice butt shot by the way... Posted by Hello

"She's reached her limit!"

Well, I never did tell you about Brewtopia last weekend...Brewtopia was a lot of fun, very merry, and I tasted a lot of yummy beer (not my favorite drink by the way, it just makes me feel bloated and sleepy for the most part, so it's not something I overindulge in...USUALLY). One of the best was a Belgian beer, Unibraue...about 2 hours into this thing, this guy comes up to me and says "you've reached your limit" and I smiled and scooted away...I was fine (I thought)...a bit tipsy, but it's Brewtopia! So then the guy is behind me in a line and I hear him whisper "that girl in front of you is drunk, she has that look on her face" and they were laughing...so I asked Megan "do I look drunk, I don't feel drunk". Megan said no, but then again, Megan had as much to drink as me at this point, so of course I looked normal to her! We stayed until 10 and decided to get some food before heading home...I still felt fine...however...after I ordered a coke and hamburger at Outback, the room was spinning, I felt sick and proceeded to lay down in the booth for the next hour or so while the others had a perfectly nice dinner, my head in Lucia's lap the whole time...I wasn't quite passed out, I heard all of their conversations, but I just couldn't sit up, I felt so sick and I was cursing myself for having to try as much beer as possible...I blame Megan...hee hee, just kidding...I can't hold myself responsible, can I? I only raised my head at the end of the meal to say "I think I need to go to the bathroom"...Megan was sweet enough to accompany me 2 times to throw up in the bathroom (that's family for you!) and she also informed me that I am a "quiet thrower-upper"...how ladylike of me! So now that the meal is over, I felt fine...head was cleared, and all is well with the world...and I'm really really hungry!!

So onto to more drinking! No, I'm kidding, I think I 'm done with the boozing for awhile...!! Tomorrow I'm going to see my favorite Scottish boys - the Trashcan Sinatras - perform at the Mercury Lounge and then on Sunday during the day I'm going to a play about Paul Robeson...my friend Vicky knows one of the actors in it - he plays an FBI agent...I'm thinking he's on stage for a total of 2 minutes - sound about right? Well it's something to do anyway...

Uncle Bill's Paintings

So, these four paintings that you see below were painted by my Uncle Bill, who passed away before Xmas of 2003. He was a very interesting and unique person and I'm so happy that my Aunt Judy gave me these 4 paintings of his...he was very interested in Native American culture and art and a lot of his paintings were based on Edward Curtis photos...these pics don't quite do them justice, but I love them...the Zuni Girl is my favorite, it's very haunting and dramatic.

He also did a charcoal drawing of a Chief Wovoka that used to hang on our living room wall that I love, it was so beautiful...Chief Wovoka was considered by the Paiute Indians (that is the tribe who is from the Las Vegas/ Southern Nevada area, they still have a reservation outside of town) to be a messiah and they believed he would save the land and their people from being destroyed - alas, that's not quite what happened...

The Fancy Dance is part of the Pow-Wow, and Aunt Judy explained to me that Bill wanted this painting to kind of look like a time-lapse photo, to show the frenzy of the dancers and also the energy that they are trying to raise during the powwow.

Busy Bee, Busy Bee bzzz bzzz...

well, I returned from Coeur d'Alene Idaho this Tuesday, where I was visiting my sister Heather and her family and my Aunt Judy and I feel so much better after my little break...refreshed, not so run down and tired and bored and blah...now I'm ready for spring! So basically, it was just hang out time with the family, I don't get to see them very often, maybe once a year, so every moment with them is very special and precious, even if we aren't doing anything but sitting on the couch eating Cheetos and watching Napoleon Dynamite (one of THE funniest movies for all you who haven't seen it yet) - look out Heather and Dan, it's a Pegasus X-ing!! I spent all of Wednesday with Judy, just chatting and laughing and drinking coffee and looking at Uncle Bill's paintings (she let me have 4 of them and as soon as they get here, I'll post pics of them, they are so pretty and striking)... I got to see Allie's soccer match (yea! she scored a goal!) and we went up to Kellogg to a goldmine, panned for gold where I found over 50 amethysts (purple being my favorite color, this was more valuable to me then the gold!)...then we ate lunch at the Snake Pit, famous for their Rocky Mountain Oysters, which I declined after Judy told me they could be rubbery...I'll stay on my testicle-free diet thank you very much! I had a yummy buffalo burger instead and then we went to the Cataldo Mission (you can see it here: http://www.idahoparks.org/parks/oldmission.html),
the oldest building in Idaho, and it has an interesting history, because unlike other missions, this one sought to incorporate the Native American beliefs and people into their faith, not overtake them and make them give up their traditions...which makes the church and its grounds that much more beautiful, knowing that it has always been a peaceful place, not one of strife and bloodshed like so many Native American sites. Later that night, we cooked s'mores and popcorn for dinner and drank Irish coffees outside by the firepit and then to bed because I had to be presentable the next day, because Allie took me to school for Show and Tell...so cute! Judy came over that night for my goodbye dinner - stromboli! Homemade by Mrs. Overoye and it was fantastically delicious and gave us energy for playing Catch Phrase and Hullaballo and then the next afternoon, I was on a plane home...I miss them already: playing Power Rangers with Jake with our swords and scabbards, drawing and coloring and making frames with Allie...and giggling and having fun with Heather, Dan, and Judy... a wonderful week! I'll post some pics soon...
Now onto this weekend...I'm going to a Mets game tonight with the gang (vs. the Marlins) and then tomorrow, Megan and I are going to the Japan Society to see a so-cool exhibit: http://www.japansociety.org/events/current.cfm and then we are off to meet some friends for BREWTOPIA!!! http://www.brewtopiafest.com , this is the World Beer Festival with over 300 craft beers, unlimited tasting, plus your own souvenir cup - woohoo! But I don't want to get too sloshed, because on Sunday, its off to another Mets game in the afternoon and I have to have enough stamina to help Tiffany carry 4 beers up the stairs to our seats in the last row without spilling :-)

Major Announcement...SHHHHH!!

Well, I don't mean to shock all of you, but I wanted to use this post to inform you that I got the results back from the doctor and I am pregnant. I'm about 8 weeks along, which means that the baby has a due date of November 9th....a Scorpio baby! I'm excited, a little nervous too, but very happy...I think I want a boy so I can name it Charles after my dad...

disclaimer: for those of you stunned by my announcement, you might want to check the date on this post... :-P

On to real news...on tap for this weekend: packing! I'm leaving on Tuesday to visit my sister Heather, brother-in-law Dan and my niece and nephew Allie and Jacob - I can't wait! And I should have some cutie pie pictures to post when I get back! So I need to rest, as I'm still dealing with the tiredness and coughing from my recent flu bout and this week has been overly busy - here at work and otherwise. On Wednesday, I went to Sounds of Brazil with Lucia and Linda - Lucia is "friendly" with one of the performers - and so we got to hear some cool music along with giggling a lot from a few apple martinis...tonight, it's dinner with Frinee and my baby boyfriend James - James celebrated his 2nd birthday on Monday, so we are celebrating that...Sunday, I'm meeting some friends for tapas and sangria at Xunta...lovely..I hope they have my favorite "pinchos": almond stuffed dates wrapped in bacon - YUMMY! That's it for now...nothing else to report...
